How it Hit

I was sitting at my desk on a typical work day in May 1994 when suddenly I was overwhelmed with nausea. I thought I was having a heart attack. I was dizzy, confused, had trouble breathing, and could hardly walk. I thought I was going to die.
After taking my pulse and realizing my heart was still beating regularly (although rapidly), a friend drove me to the local hospital emergency room, where as luck would have it my family doctor (alias primary care physician) was on call. After the preliminary check ruled out anything really serious, he held up his pen and told me to look at the tip. After a few seconds he said you have Vertigo (my eyes were moving rapidly from side to side which indicates a balance disorder).
